The Problem As We See It

There are many individuals in the church who are dealing with debilitating emotional issues which prohibit their spiritual growth and maturity. Many of these issues stem from circumstances and trauma experienced during earlier times in these people’s lives. These people, in general, make up approximately 30% of any given congregation. It is the other 70% who normally get all the attention.

Healing for these persons can come about through carefully structured Christian counseling and therapy. This type of service has, in the past, been unavailable to the general public due to cost and availability.

In addition, too many times, the pastors of these people are unable to devote the many hours, and often months, required to provide structured counseling for all those who may need it in their congregations. For the pastor to try to counsel long-term with several persons at one time could result in his becoming bogged down and less effective with the overall ministry.

As well, many persons who are suffering with debilitating personal/emotional issues are too ashamed and/or fearful to bring to the attention of the church or to their pastors for fear of being labeled and forsaken.

Compounding the problem is that there has not been a ready means of confronting the issue with effective, lasting, and hopefully permanent results.

A Working Solution :

Structured counseling and belief-therapy provides the suffering individual with the opportunity to confront and resolve many personal and traumatic issues in a safe environment. When concerns such as privacy and acceptance are dealt with, people are much more apt to choose and accept the help they need.

Through structured counseling and belief-therapy training, members of your church would be able to provide your congregation with (when necessary) effective long-term counseling. Using this method, God could then use these counselors to bring healing to many who have yet to receive it.

As well, through continued training, these counselors could then develop into Belief Therapists, who could take on even more serious issues when necessary. This way every pastor could, in essence, minister to his congregation as a whole, even when he himself does not actually have the time to personally to get it done.

These counselors could very well become one of the best and most effective resources that any pastors could have, as well as effective healing tools for the Lord. Imagine a team of counselors at your church available to those who hurt and are suffering.

How to do it.

NewLife Christian Counseling Ministry (NCCM) provides cost-effective training in many areas of counseling. Our primary goal is to train counselors, NOT make money. Though we still have to pay for materials and compensate the instructors, our first goal is to help establish trained counselors in churches.

NCCM training courses include, but are not limited to, Beginning Counseling, Advanced Counseling, How to counsel Married Persons, How to Counsel Emotional Issues, How to Counsel Family Issues, Counseling Marital Separation Issues. and many more. We also include sections in most training courses regarding legal issues affecting counseling.

How we can help you.

Please consider allowing us to hold a seminar in your church outlining the affects of divorce, childhood trauma, relationship disorders, and causes of broken families and relationships among Christians. Through our seminar we offer three (3) avenues of help.

1.         We offer (with approval from the pastor) counseling to those persons who feel they need it. This counseling is done by our staff, on our premises, and only a small fee ($15 per session) is charged to those who are able to afford it.

2.         We offer (again, with approval from the pastor) to train persons from that church to become counselors. That training would be contingent on the commitment of those individuals from your church, who want counseling training, that they will be continuing with your ministry as in-house counselors. Fees for the training are varied and will be made available prior to the seminar.

3.         We offer to help you develop a Counseling Ministry in your church. We would train the counselors, assist them in implementing the ministry, and help them organize events which would make your church members aware of this precious resource within their own spiritual body.

What we would need.

A date for the seminar. We hold only 4 per year.

We do NOT charge for the seminars. If you choose do raise an offering at the end of the session, we of course will not be in disagreement. We DO ask for the opportunity to sale and distribute literature at the seminar. All such literature will be disclosed to you ahead of time for your knowledge.

Once a date is established, a team of our staff would need to visit the site of the seminar, prior to the actual date, to begin preparations for the event. On the day of the seminar, the NCCM staff would need access to the site, at least two hours ahead of schedule, to set up equipment and finalize preparations.

The Seminar Itself

The one and a half (1 ½) hour seminar agenda is set as follows:

A.        One of our Seminar Specialists will welcome those in attendance and make any necessary announcements.

B.        That Seminar Specialist will then invite you (the pastor) who then introduces NCCM’s Lead Counselor, Pastor Juan M. Perez, who will be the orator.

C.        The lecture part of the seminar lasts approximately 50 minutes. The lecture is followed by a question and answer period of up-to-30 minutes.

D.        We finish the seminar by asking the attendees to fill out a short questionnaire, from which we derive information that is made available to the church. We do collect names and addresses for our seminar announcement mail-outs. As well, we remind everyone of the materials and literature we have available for sale.

E.        At the end of the seminar we again invite you (the pastor) to close out the event in prayer.

After the Seminar

We will work with you in deciding what avenue of support (from the 3 mentioned above) we may most be of service to your congregation.

We continue to be available to you and your congregation regarding seminars on other topics.
